The second generation of our Re-scan Confocal Microscopes, RCM2, lays its focus on getting brighter images, all while keeping low laserpower. RCM2 speed can reach 2 frames per second at a resolution of 512×512 pixels.

High resolution at low magnifications

Because of its optics, RCM2 is suitable for high-resolution imaging with high numerical aperture (NA) objectives in the low magnification range. A lower magnification with a higher numerical aperture allows for a bigger field of view (FOV) and also brighter images. Get high resolution images using 40x objectives with 1.4NA!

With the RCM2 you are able to optically reach 170nm raw resolution over a very large field of view and 120nm after deconvolution. Because RCM2 uses sCMOS detectors in contrast to conventional PMTs, RCM2 can reach a quantum efficiency of more than 95% thus, becoming highly sensitive to emitted fluorescence. This allows you to acquire high resolution even in low fluorescence conditions, like when detecting single-molecules(smFISH). When using the RCM2 in combination with silicon objectives, you are able to create deep 3D imaging of organoids, zebrafish embryos, or larger live samples.
